Getting Started

New players should begin with our beginner guide, which walks through the tutorial, family rolls, and your first hours in Kamakura Village. From there, Slayers need the Final Selection guide to pass the exam and unlock the full skill tree. If you want to play as a demon instead, read how to become a demon before you finish the tutorial fight.

Early progression also depends on currency. The farm yen guide explains trinket drops, ore mining routes, and repeatable quests so you can afford trainers like Urokodaki without grinding blindly.

Breathing Style Guides

Most Slayers start with Water Breathing through Sakonji Urokodaki. Our Water Breathing guide covers the 2,000 yen fee, the boulder quest, and the parkour trial on Mount Sagiri. Flame Breathing follows a different path — visit Kyojuro Rengoku at White Peak with 20 demon horns and an Axe Demon collar, detailed in the Flame Breathing guide.

Endgame styles require Prestige. Sun Breathing is taught by Tanjiro in the Coast Forest and needs Prestige 1+, level 50, and ideally a Kamado family roll for the damage bonus. Moon Breathing is the Hybrid-only style from Kokushibo in Frosty Forest — see the Hybrid section below before you attempt it.

Prestige and Hybrid Progression

Prestige is the level 50 reset that unlocks Sun Breathing and raises your long-term power ceiling. Talk to Murata in Kamakura Village when you hit level 50; you keep your clan but lose levels, yen, and most inventory progress. Full details are in the Prestige guide.

Hybrid is the bridge between Slayer and demon gameplay. You need five Muzan Blood, level 50, and a conversation with Kokushibo that resets you to level 25 while granting both Breathing and Blood Demon Art access. The Hybrid guide and Moon Breathing guide work together — Moon is only available to Hybrids at level 50 and above.

Utility and Platform Guides

Console players often struggle with potion hotkeys. The potions on console guide includes a video walkthrough for drinking Combat Potions, Health Potions, and other consumables on Xbox and PlayStation without opening the full inventory every time.

For complementary reference material, pair these guides with our codes page for free potions, the trainer locations map for NPC coordinates, and Breathing tier list when deciding which style to main long term.

Recommended Progression Order

A typical Slayer route looks like this: complete the tutorial, pass Final Selection, farm yen for Urokodaki, learn Water Breathing, reach level 50, Prestige with Murata, then pursue Sun Breathing with Tanjiro. Demon players skip Final Selection, grow through the purgatory path, and either stay demon or convert to Hybrid later for Moon Breathing.

Hybrid is a mid-to-late game commitment — you lose your current level down to 25 and must re-grind with dual mechanics. Plan your family roll, stock Muzan Blood early, and read the Hybrid guide before wiping progress. Every guide below links back here so you can jump between topics without losing context.
