Demonfall Final Selection Guide

In Kamakura Village, speak to the Final Selection quest NPC after completing introductory Slayer quests. Accept the exam objective: kill 30 demons. The counter tracks eligible demon kills — not all NPC enemies count, so focus on wild demon spawns in marked hunting grounds.

Demons who failed the tutorial intentionally skip this entirely — they follow the demon purgatory path instead. If you want Final Selection, you must have won the tutorial fight on that character.

Early demon packs outside Kamakura Village offer the safest kills for low levels. Circle spawn camps where demons respawn quickly — each kill increments your exam counter while dropping trinkets for the farm yen guide.

Party up for speed: multiple Slayers clearing the same camp finish Final Selection faster. Avoid high-level zones like Frosty Forest until you are strong enough — dying slows progress more than efficient low-zone farming.

Block and parry beat reckless rushing. Demons telegraph swings — punish whiffed attacks with combo chains. Save Breathing forms if you have early unlocks, but basic Nichirin combos suffice for low-tier exam demons.

Bring Health Potions from active codes or shops. Console players pre-bind potions using the potions console guide to heal without opening menus mid-fight.

If a demon pack overwhelms you, pull one enemy at a time instead of aggroing the whole camp — Final Selection counts kills, not speed, and deaths cost more time than safe single pulls.

Completing thirty kills finishes the exam and unlocks full Slayer progression — advanced skill trees, trainer access, and broader map permissions. Your next milestone is saving 2,000 yen for Water Breathing with Urokodaki.

Players often grind the wrong enemies that do not count toward the thirty-kill quota — watch the quest counter increment after each kill. Others spread farming across distant zones inefficiently when Kamakura outskirts suffice.

Do not confuse Final Selection with Prestige or Hybrid — those are endgame systems. Final Selection is the mid-tutorial Slayer exam only, required once per Slayer character before serious Breathing progression.

Most players pass Final Selection between levels 8 and 15. Lower levels can succeed with skilled blocking but die faster to mob swarms. If you die repeatedly, farm one more level in Kamakura outskirts before retrying — XP loss from deaths slows the exam more than an extra thirty minutes of safe grinding.

Higher-level players finishing the exam late still benefit — the thirty kills remain valid quest progress toward yen and horn drops. Speedrunners rush at level 8; cautious players wait until level 15 for comfortable HP pools.

Coordinate with other Slayer candidates in the same zone — stagger pulls so multiple demon packs do not overwhelm one player. Share healing items if your patch allows trade; at minimum, party presence reduces downtime between spawn waves.

After the exam, celebrate by saving yen immediately for Water Breathing — many players spend trinket money on cosmetics and delay Urokodaki by hours unnecessarily.

Keep the exam quest pinned until the counter hits thirty — killing non-qualifying enemies feels productive but does not advance Final Selection progress.
